The Jam button is missing

Play a track first: the button lives in the player bar next to the track title. If it still is not there after a SoundCloud redesign, the extension popup (puzzle-piece icon → SoundAlong) offers every Jam control as a fallback, and an update usually follows quickly.

“Click to listen along” keeps appearing

That is your browser’s autoplay protection, not a bug: a page you have not clicked yet may not start audio on its own. One click on the overlay and the Jam takes over from there.

Playback drifts or stutters

1. SoundAlong resyncs automatically when drift passes about 1.5 seconds.
2. Ads pause the room: participants wait while the host hears an ad (and vice versa). An ad-free SoundCloud subscription avoids this; it is optional.
3. “Can't play this track here” means SoundCloud will not play the full track for you (region locks, removed uploads, subscriber-only tracks). The Jam continues with the next track.

Discord shows nothing

1. The Discord desktop app must be running (the browser version has no presence).
2. Check the popup: it shows whether the companion and Discord are connected.
3. Activity sharing must be on in Discord: Settings → Activity Privacy → Share your detected activities with others.
4. You cannot see your own presence buttons; that is a Discord quirk. Ask a friend to check your profile.
